Bespoke Food Busker truck conversion

Food Busker Vehicle Conversion

Raccoon delivers innovative solutions to the food and drink sector.

From experiential activations, to vehicle conversions and environment branding, we are trusted by big brands to solve challenges and deliver the wow factor.

So we were extremely excited to collaborate with the Food Busker and create a food truck for him to take his YouTube channel on the road. It needed to be a well-equipped, functional kitchen space that would double up as an editing area for his content.

We decided on a horse box trailer: it’s super roomy and has bags of character. We knew we could pull off a stunning transformation and deliver the perfect ‘Content Kitchen’.

So where did we start? First up we sourced the RICE horsebox, and once it was delivered to our workshop in Kent we used our 3D laser scanning capability to find out everything we needed to know.

All surfaces and corners were scanned so we could capture every single measurement. This was crucial, so we could enable an accurate fit out of components. We were able to import this into our CAD software to visualise the shell and then fill it with the requirements.

The design was overlaid and before we knew it we could see the end result before we’d even lifted a tool.

The Raccoon creative team worked hard to bring the Food Busker branding elements into the build for a personalised touch. We used natural finishes such as wood and copper to transform the trailer.

The design intent was captured and translated into the technical specification which the fabrication team would follow.

Back in the workshop, the team reinforced the ceiling of the trailer and cut out a serving hatch, a key requirement. It was sprayed inside and out, an oak floor was laid and our carpenter began to build the bespoke cabinets. These were a high-end walnut finish.

We also created free-standing units that could be utilised when the horse box was fully opened up.

The back hatch when down increased the footprint of the trailer significantly and combined with the free-standing units could be used as extra serving or preparation space. Clever!

The electrics were installed for the appliances, water pumps and general lighting, and the plumbing began to take shape. Worktops were fitted, the fridge and oven/hob were secured and the sinks went in.

Finally it was time to work on the finishing touches. The tiling was tackled, copper coloured sockets and light fixtures were fitted, camera rails were discreetly positioned, the roof top sign was created and installed and the vinyl graphics were the final flourish.

The Food Busker was thrilled with the final result, as you can see from the videos above. To find out what he's been up to recently, check out his Instagram.
